Foot and Ankle Surgeon, Podiatrist, Reno and Sparks
Nurse Practitioner
Hillarie Lara, NP, is a Nurse Practitioner specializing in foot and ankle care, proudly serving patients in South Reno and Sparks. She earned her Master of Nursing from the University of Nevada, Reno, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Great Basin College, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Psychology from The Evergreen State College.
Hillarie brings a diverse clinical background to her role, with experience in emergency medicine, hospice care, critical care, and her most recent practice being in physical medicine and rehabilitation. She has also treated a wide range of orthopedic injuries while working at the Northstar Ski Clinic. During her graduate studies, she served as a teacher’s assistant for the undergraduate nursing program, where she enjoyed mentoring students as they began their nursing careers.
As part of her training, Hillarie traveled to Cambodia for a clinical rotation at Sonja Kill Memorial Hospital, where she worked in both the outpatient clinic and emergency department. This experience provided valuable insight into healthcare delivery in a different setting and exposure to conditions not commonly seen in the United States. Her academic work includes a published thesis, “Descriptive Analysis of Indoor and Outdoor Climbing Injuries,” and she is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Hillarie is dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered care and is committed to helping patients improve their mobility, function, and overall quality of life. Her approach to care focuses on active listening, collaboration, and respect. She strives to ensure patients feel heard, supported, and confident in their care, while developing personalized treatment plans that align with each patient’s unique goals and lifestyle.
Hillarie was inspired to pursue a career in nursing by her desire to help others while working in a dynamic and ever-evolving field. She later developed a strong interest in orthopedics and sports medicine, which aligns with her passion for the outdoors and her involvement with the American Alpine Club.
Outside of work, Hillarie enjoys rock climbing, particularly alpine routes in the Eastern Sierra. She also spends her time trail running, backcountry skiing, backpacking, photography, reading, baking, playing piano, and traveling with her two teenage boys. In her free time, she also enjoys watercolor painting of outdoor landscapes and creating stickers from her artwork.
Hillarie is proud to serve the Northern Nevada community and is passionate about delivering compassionate, high-quality care to help her patients stay active and return to the activities they love.
