James Szalay, PT, DPT, OCS

James Szalay is a Physical Therapist and board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist who joined the Swift Institute Physical Therapy team in 2025. He brings a strong foundation in rehabilitation and a passion for patient-centered care to the Sparks Physical Therapy location. James earned his Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Studies from Stetson University and went on to complete his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Mount Saint Mary’s College.

He has extensive experience in outpatient orthopedics and has also worked in home health, giving him a comprehensive perspective on the full continuum of care. This diverse background has deepened his appreciation for consistent, quality care across all stages of recovery.

James’s clinical approach emphasizes patient education—empowering individuals to better understand their conditions and play an active role in their healing process. He is particularly committed to helping patients stay motivated and engaged with their treatment plans to achieve optimal outcomes.

His journey into physical therapy began with his own rehabilitation following a serious motorcycle accident during college. The care and mentorship he received from his physical therapist inspired him to change career paths and ultimately shaped his philosophy of giving back through mentorship. He hopes to serve as a clinical instructor to guide future PT students and undergraduates.

Outside of the clinic, James enjoys performance driving, PC gaming, snowboarding, camping, and training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He also has a strong interest in exercise science and sports nutrition.
