Dr. Waqaar Ahmad is a vein-specialized interventional radiologist at Swift Vein Institute. He is fellowship-trained in Vascular and Interventional Radiology and is ABMS board-certified by the American Board of Radiology.
He is experienced in minimally invasive venous treatments, including radiofrequency ablation (ClosureFast), laser ablation, phlebectomy, and VenaSeal closure.
Dr. Ahmad earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He completed his internship at Wayne State University Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, followed by Diagnostic Radiology residency training at Yale New Haven Health’s Bridgeport Hospital. He then completed fellowship training in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Dr. Ahmad has presented at several national society annual meetings, including AUR, NASCI, and SIR, and has a particular interest in interventional and endovascular therapies.
Before relocating to Northern Nevada, Dr. Ahmad served as an interventional radiologist at both outpatient facilities and Level I trauma centers in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Ahmad enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking the stunning Sierra Nevada mountains, mountain biking, paddleboarding on Lake Tahoe, and, most of all, traveling and exploring the world.
