Doctor of Nurse Practice
Stacy Berlekamp Spatar is a Doctor of Nurse Practice (DNP) and has been a nurse for over 30 years and an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) for nearly a decade.
She started her healthcare career by completing her Licensed Practical Nursing degree at Sandusky School of Practical Nursing before earning her Associate Degree in Nursing at Owens Community College. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Allied Health with an emphasis in Business from Heidelberg College. She fulfilled her Master of Nursing in Health Education at the Toledo University Medical Center in 2008. She later returned to obtain her Post Graduate Degree as an Adult Nurse Practitioner in 2013. In 2018, she received her DNP at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and had her study related to chronic pain, anxiety, and depression published in the Federal Practitioner, October 2019. Dr. Spatar, Doctor of Nurse Practice, was a chosen podium presenter at The Ohio University in 2019. In 2020, she had an article featured in the Nevada Board of Nursing Newsletter that depicted the roles of DNP/APRNs. In addition, Dr. Spatar, Doctor of Nurse Practice, was a podium speaker at the Nevada Advanced Practice Nurse Association’s (NAPNA) annual conference where she presented her work; "Chronic Pain-Beyond the Physical Complaint". She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and the Nevada Advanced Practice Nurse Association (NAPNA).
Dr. Spatar, Doctor of Nurse Practice, is not new to the pain management environment and has been helping those with chronic pain for nearly a decade. Prior to relocating to the Reno area, she with her husband, Sergeant Major United States Marine Corps (now retired), lived near Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. She cared for our military at the Navy Medical Center’s comprehensive pain management clinic. Additionally, she educated fellow staff on pertinent guidelines, helped reduce the overall opioid burden among our military, and served as a long-term opioid and pharmacy committee member.
Dr. Spatar, Doctor of Nurse Practice, will assess, diagnose, prescribe, and perform various injections in the clinic, including Botox injections for headache and auricular acupuncture for chronic low back pain. She strives to provide patient education related to the biopsychosocial model of pain and the neuroscience involved with chronic pain.
